Symposium "Deciphering River Flood Change: Historical Floods"

In 2013 another workshop was organised in the framework of the ERC project "FloodChange" in the Seminarhotel Springer Schlößl in Vienna. The main theme of the workshop was floods in historical times: specialists from all over Europe participated in the workshop.

The oral and poster presentations were mainly concentrated on such topics as the recently developed historical flood series and their utilisation, new methodological approaches, analysis possibilities of long-term historical flood series and on the investigations of individual catastrophic flood events. Another important part of the workshop was dedicated to group discussions on planning joint, European investigations, with special emphasis on the flood changes of the last 500 years. Moreover, a special issue on historical floods in HESS were decided.
