Thomas Nester

Thomas Nester works as a PostDoc at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management, where he also completed his PhD in Hydrology in December 2011.

Research Interests:

• Forecasting of floods and low flows
• Snow hydrology
• Estimation of uncertainties
• Historical flood events

Thomas’ research within the ERC project focuses on historical floods. He is also interested in the impacts of land use changes on floods at different scales.

In his PhD Thomas developed a flood forecasting model for the Danube tributaries. He analysed different aspects of the model, including the snow model and the ensemble forecasts. So far, he has published 4 papers in ISI indexed journals.
