J. Parajka is Associated Professor at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management and Faculty member of the Vienna Doctoral Programme on Water Resource Systems.
- Understanding water balance components from small experimental catchments to regions; regional water balance modeling; catchment hydrology; experimental research basins.
- Innovative measurement methods: time lapse photography, remote sensing of snow, soil moisture for understanding hydrological processes; geostatistical methods; Geographic Information Systems.
- Regionalisation; runoff predictions in ungauged basins and changing conditions.
The main research interest within the ERC Project is the seasonality and decadal variability of hydrological characteristics along different transects in Europe.
Juraj Parajka has published around 80 scientific articles in the area of hydrology and water resources. 36 of these articles appeared in international peer reviewed journals listed in the ISI citation index. His publications have been cited about 550 times as per the ISI data base, and his H-index is 13. He is Associated Editor of Water Resources Research, Journal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics and Hydrology-Open Access Journal.
