José Luis Salinas
José Luis holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Spain. During his studies, he worked on the research areas of computational fluid mechanics and stochastic rainfall modelling in the Institute of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering at the same Faculty.
He also studied for one year at the Vienna University of Technology (2008/2009), participating in the Socrates ERASMUS programme. In April 2010 he began his PhD studies at the Institute of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management of the Vienna University of Technology. Jose Luis has attended several international conferences and he is a member of the European Geosciences Union and the International Association of Hydrological Sciences.
Research Interests:
- Statistical modeling of hydrological extremes
- Regional flood frequency analysis with bayesian approaches
- Detection and attribution of spatio-temporal patterns in hydrological time series
- Impact of hydraulic structures and river training on hydrological regimes
José’s research within the ERC project focuses on the impacts of river training and hydraulic structures on flood regimes. He is also interested in the study of spatial and temporal clustering of floods and its relationship to large scale hydrometeorological processes.
